Feasibility and Master Planning

As Miami evolves into a “community of communities,” HistoryMiami faces the challenge of documenting and celebrating the city’s cultural richness while grappling with questions of inclusion, representation, and voice. To meet this challenge, the museum needed to rethink its purpose and vision, and zero in on fresh strategic priorities. The goal was a conceptual master plan that reflects both the diversity and the similarities of the Miami communities.

Chora partnered with HistoryMiami to facilitate a sweeping re-imagination. Through interviews, workshops, and collaborative planning, Chora and HistoryMiami were able to sharpen the mission, define audiences, and design exhibitions and programs that allow all Miamians to see themselves in the museum’s storytelling.
